Christopher Maurer is a Professor of Spanish Research and Teaching at Boston University, serving as Associate Chair of the Department of Romance Studies and Head of the Spanish Section. He holds a BA from Columbia University and MA/PhD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. His work focuses on Spanish poetry, with emphases on interdisciplinary connections between poetry/music/painting, translation studies, and textual criticism.
Maurer’s research highlights 20th-century reception of Baroque authors, Lorca’s transatlantic influence, and digital humanities projects like 'Streets and Dreams,' mapping Lorca’s New York period. He has curated exhibitions at the New York Public Library and the Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada. Notable publications include critical editions of Lorca’s works, translations of Spanish luminaries, and a prizewinning biography of painter Walter Inglis Anderson.
