Mehmet Keskin is Professor in Geological Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, specializing in volcanic systems and tectonic processes. He earned his PhD from the University of Durham (1995) and has held positions at CERN, Istanbul University, and Argonne National Laboratory.
Research focuses on:
- Mantle-crust interactions in collision zones
- Geochemical signatures of magmatism
- Neotectonics of Anatolian-Caucasian region
- Volcano stratigraphy and petrogenesis
Recent publications examine:
- Geodynamic evolution of Eastern Mediterranean
- Mantle source characteristics
- Late Cenozoic volcanism chronology
- Slab breakoff processes
Honors include:
- Humboldt Research Prize (2014)
- Bell Fellowship at CERN
- Multiple German academic scholarships
He advises graduate students on volcanic geochemistry and tectonics, and leads TÜBİTAK-funded projects on gold mineralization potentials in transboundary volcanic plateaus.
