معرفی
Prof. Senel Ozdamar is a Professor of Geological Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), part of the Faculty of Mining. He holds administrative roles including Head of the Department of Geological Engineering (2024–present) and former Vice Dean (2020–2023). His research focuses on Mineralogy-Petrography and Geochemistry, with expertise in metamorphic and igneous rocks, geochronology, and geochemical analysis.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Geological Engineering (1989–1993)
- Master's in Petrology and Ore Deposits (1994–1998)
- PhD in Petrology and Ore Deposits (2005–2009)
Research Interests:
His work explores metamorphic and igneous processes, geochronological techniques (e.g., zircon U-Pb dating), and the geochemical evolution of Anatolian terranes. Key areas include plutonic systems, volcanic petrogenesis, and mineral resource characterization.
Publications:
Recent articles focus on Anatolian geodynamics, pluton petrochemistry, and volcanic processes, employing advanced isotopic and thermochronological methods. Notable contributions address the Cenozoic evolution of the Tethyan Orogenic Belt and the geology of the Sakarya Zone.
Awards:
- Golden Hammer Research Award (Chamber of Geological Engineers, 2004)
Grants & Projects:
Leads projects on plutonic rock characterization, geochronology of Anatolian magmatism, and applied studies in mineral resource evaluation. Recent initiatives include investigations of metavolcanic rocks in Konya and building stone potential of plutons in İzmir-Bergama.
Labs/Teams:
His research group collaborates on regional geological surveys and interdisciplinary projects, focusing on fieldwork and geochemical laboratory analyses.
