معرفی
Professor Andrew Kerr is a faculty member at Cardiff University's School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, where he holds the position of Professor of Petrology and serves as the Director of Learning and Teaching. His research focuses on petrology, large igneous provinces, oceanic plateaus, and magmatic processes, with extensive fieldwork in Tibet, Pakistan, and Scotland.
Kerr's research interests center on geodynamic processes, crustal growth, and the tectonic implications of igneous systems. He investigates mantle-crust interactions, subduction dynamics, and the formation of large-scale volcanic features, employing geochemical and isotopic methods to unravel Earth's magmatic history.
His recent publications (2024–2025) predominantly explore Tibetan Plateau geodynamics, post-collisional magmatism, and ophiolite petrogenesis, reflecting a strong emphasis on continental collisions, lithospheric evolution, and mineral resource formation. The articles integrate field observations with advanced geochemical techniques to address fundamental questions in plate tectonics and crustal development.
