Gonca Kuşcu

Professor Gonca Kuşcu is a distinguished faculty member at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, serving in the Faculty of Engineering within the Department of Geological Engineering, specializing in Mineralogy-Petrography. With over two decades of academic experience, she has established herself as a leading researcher in volcanology and geochemistry, contributing significantly to our understanding of Anatolian volcanic systems and their tectonic contexts.

Professor Kušcu's research focuses on volcanic processes, tephrochronology, and the geochemical characterization of volcanic systems. Her work spans monogenetic volcanism, maar volcanoes, and the relationship between volcanism and tectonics in Anatolia. She has pioneered the application of machine learning algorithms to tephrochronology and has conducted extensive studies on the South Aegean Active Volcanic Arc and Central Anatolian Volcanic Province. Her research integrates field observations with advanced analytical techniques to understand volcanic hazards and magma genesis.

Analysis of Professor Kušcu's recent publications reveals a consistent focus on Anatolian volcanism, with particular emphasis on monogenetic volcanic fields, tephra distribution, and magma source characterization.
