Zekiye Karacik

Prof. Zekiye Karacik is a Professor at Istanbul Technical University's Geological Engineering Department. Her research focuses on mineralogy-petrography, volcanism, and geochemical processes in Western Anatolia. She holds a PhD from Istanbul Technical University and has supervised multiple graduate theses in geological sciences.

Research interests include Cenozoic volcanism, magma petrogenesis, radionuclide distribution in environmental matrices, and tectonic evolution of Anatolia. Recent publications investigate beach sand mineralogy, volcanic geodynamics, and groundwater radionuclide contamination.

She has led research projects including 'Petrological development of Eocene volcanism' and 'Investigation of Cenozoic magmatic units', funded by TUBITAK. Current work examines uranium-thorium enrichment in magmatic systems.
