Dr. DeVore's research focuses on the Patristic Era (1st–8th centuries), with particular emphasis on early Christian identity, martyrdom narratives, responses to heresy, scriptural canon formation, and early Christian art. Her work explores how doctrine was communicated through narrative and visual culture, and she has contributed significantly to understanding gender, benefaction, and spiritual formation in early Christianity. She integrates historical theology with philosophical and artistic dimensions, offering a rich, multidisciplinary perspective.
Her recent publications and presentations reveal a consistent scholarly trajectory in early Christian studies, especially in martyrdom literature, visual theology, and Augustinian thought. Themes such as identity, virtue, and the interplay between text and image recur throughout her work, reflecting deep engagement with both primary sources and contemporary theological discourse.
