Dr. Wagner's research centers on Patristic exegesis, the reception of Hebrew Scriptures in early Christianity, and the theological significance of early Christian hymns, particularly those of Synesius of Cyrene. His work spans scriptural hermeneutics, mystical theology, natural theology, and the writings of Luigi Giussani. He explores themes of communal life, deification, and the spiritual dimensions of early Christian texts.
His recent publications reveal a strong focus on Patristic theology, particularly the works of Synesius of Cyrene, Basil of Caesarea, and Cyril of Alexandria. The articles span scriptural interpretation, ecclesiology, pneumatology, and ascetic theology, demonstrating a deep engagement with early Christian thought and its relevance for contemporary theology. His research bridges historical analysis with theological reflection, often highlighting the interplay between liturgy, scripture, and spiritual formation.
