Dr. Maya Antoun is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Education, Arts and Community at Federation University, specializing in Early Childhood Education. She holds a PhD from Monash University (2016) and a Master of Education from Monash University (2009). Her teaching spans courses in early childhood and primary education, including units like Early Childhood and Literacies and Catering for Diversity in Inclusive Early Childhood Settings.
Her research focuses on inclusive education, gifted education, teacher professional development, and classroom management. She has published extensively in Scopus-indexed journals, particularly analyzing Lebanon’s education system and its impact on gifted learners, TIMSS performance, and curriculum design. Her work emphasizes equitable practices for gifted students, including refugees, and advocates for systemic reforms in Lebanon.
Dr. Antoun supervises Masters students in inclusive education and has presented at international conferences, including the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children. She serves as Lebanon’s delegate to this global body and is a member of the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Her professional development initiatives emphasize play-based learning and STEM integration to support vulnerable children.
