Mauro Tulli

Mauro Tulli is a Full Professor of Greek Literature at the University of Pisa since October 2006, preceded by Associate Professorship (1998-2006). He has held leadership roles including Director of the Department 'Filologia, Letteratura e Linguistica' (2012-2016), President of the PhD Programme 'Scienze dell’Antichità e Archeologia' (2020-2022), and 'Delegato del Rettore' for national academic relations. His scholarly focus spans Platonic studies, Hellenistic philosophy, and papyrology.

Education:

• Diploma in Classical Philology (1983), University of Rome 'Sapienza'
• PhD in Classical Philology (1987), University of Florence

Research Interests center on classical philology, particularly Plato’s dialogues, ancient rhetoric, and Hellenistic intellectual traditions. His work intersects literary analysis with philosophical and cultural studies, emphasizing textual preservation (papyrology) and interdisciplinary approaches.

• Humboldt-Stiftung Scholarship (1992-1995)

Leadership & Editorial Roles include co-founding the 'Associazione To Hellenikon' (2023, President), directing the 'Diotima' and 'Biblioteca di Studi Antichi' series, and serving as Vice-Director of the journal 'Studi Classici e Orientali'. He has also held key positions in the 'Centro Internazionale per lo Studio dei Papiri Ercolanesi' (CISPE) and 'International Plato Society' (IPS).
