Gianfranco Agosti

Gianfranco Agosti is a Full Professor of Classical and Late Antique Philology at the University of Pisa. He previously held academic positions at Sapienza University of Rome (2011-2022), University of Udine (2008-2011), and other institutions. His research spans Late Antique and Byzantine studies, focusing on Greek and Latin philology, papyrology, and epigraphy.

Research Interests: Agosti's work centers on the history and culture of Late Antique Egypt, Late Mosaics, textual transmission of manuscripts, and Greco-Roman poetry. His scholarship bridges philology, iconography, and socio-cultural analysis of the Near East and Mediterranean regions.
