Federico Morelli

PD Dr. Federico Morelli is a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Austrian Academy of Sciences, University of Vienna, and Austrian National Library since 1998. Specializing in papyrology and classical philology, his work focuses on Greek documents from late antiquity and the early Arab period, examining administrative, economic, and social history through paleography and material culture.

• Habilitated in papyrology (University of Vienna, 2006)
• Habilitated as ordinary professor of Classical and Late Antique Philology (Italy, 2014)
• Member of the International Papyrology Committee (2016-present)

Research Interests: Economic history of late antiquity, administrative systems, taxation, agricultural practices, and social structures analyzed through papyrological documents. His current project "Food and the Cost of Living in a Changing World" (FWF P34062) explores material culture connections.
