Francesca Schironi is a Professor of Classics in the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Michigan. Her research spans Greek science, Hellenistic scholarship, papyrology, and reception studies, with a focus on linguistics, astronomy, and ancient philosophical texts.

Her work explores Hellenistic astronomy (e.g., Hipparchus, Eudoxus), the intersection of scholarship and Christian exegesis (Origen, Hexapla), and technical language in ancient science and medicine. She leads the NSF-sponsored Aratus Project, which includes an online edition of exegetical materials and an exhibit on astronomy from Babylonia to Kepler.
Current publications include studies on Aristarchus of Samothrace, the Oxyrhynchus Glossary, and papyrological practices. Recent articles address topics like Hellenistic terminology, the reception of Plato, and the methodology of ancient philology.
She supervises PhD dissertations on ancient science and teaches courses on Greek science, ancient medicine, and astronomy before the telescope.
