Maureen Qualia is a Senior Lecturer of Enology at Texas Tech University, affiliated with the Department of Plant and Soil Science within the Davis College Plant and Soil Science. She holds a B.S. in Nutrition from the University of Texas-Austin (2001) and an M.S. in Enology from California State University-Fresno (2008). Her career includes extensive experience in California’s wine industry, spanning roles such as lab manager, winemaker, and production manager at notable wineries like Silver Oak Cellars and J&J Cellars. At Texas Tech, she develops and teaches the university’s new winemaking certificate program, oversees undergraduate enology courses via distance education, and provides technical workshops for Texas Hill Country wineries.
