Kirk Williams is a Lecturer of Viticulture in the Viticulture & Enology Program at Texas Tech University, affiliated with the Department of Plant and Soil Science. He holds a B.S. in Crops from Texas Tech University and an M.S. in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University. Williams has extensive experience in agricultural chemical advising, viticulture, and education.
His career includes roles as a Pest Control Advisor in California, where he developed expertise in grape cultivation and pest management across the Central Valley and North Coast wine regions. Returning to Texas in 1996, he established a family vineyard and began teaching agriculture at Palo Alto College. In 1998, he partnered to plant Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, expanding to 7.5 acres by 2014. He now teaches full-time at Texas Tech, focusing on viticultural education to share insights gained through practical experience and academic training.
Williams emphasizes hands-on learning and aims to reduce common pitfalls in grape growing through structured education. His work integrates agronomic principles with sustainable practices, reflecting his dual background in academia and industry.
