Maureen Bourassa is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean Academic at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan. She holds a Ph.D. and MSc in Management from Queen's University, and a B.Comm from the University of Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on respect in marketplace contexts and stakeholder engagement, exploring how organizations build respect, overcome adversarial stakeholder relationships, and engage in socially responsible practices.
Her research areas include B2B and B2C respect dynamics, digital compromises in consumer behavior, gender and self-promotion in professional settings, and science communication in contentious policy issues. She has contributed to journals such as the European Journal of Marketing and Science Communication.
Bourassa teaches advanced marketing courses such as Marketing for Organizational Decision-Making (MBA 819) and Marketing Strategy (Comm 357), reflecting her commitment to bridging academic research and practical business strategies.
Her work often addresses interdisciplinary challenges, such as the intersection of public knowledge and charity effectiveness, and the role of respect in mediating consumer satisfaction. She has advised on policy stakeholder communication, particularly in nuclear energy and contentious issue management.
