Matthew Zagor is a Senior Lecturer at the ANU College of Law and Deputy Director of the National Europe Centre. He holds a BA (Hons) in Religious Studies and Social Anthropology from SOAS (University of London) and an LLB from UNSW. His career spans legal practice with Amnesty International, migration policy roles in Australian government agencies, and academic research. His teaching focuses on public law, refugee law, human rights, environmental law, and comparative constitutional law.
Research interests include constitutional patriotism, refugee identity narratives, the legality of migration policies, and judicial rhetoric. Notable works critique ‘safe legal pathways’ frameworks in Europe, analyze Australian refugee resettlement logic, and explore constitutional identity through case law. He has contributed to submissions on citizenship reform, immigration detention, and disability rights in migration law.
