Dr. Matthew Sinton is a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Division of Immunology, Immunity to Infection and Respiratory Medicine. He holds a PhD in Cardiovascular Science from the University of Edinburgh (2020), alongside MSc degrees in Cardiovascular Biology (2017) and Immunity & Infection (2016). His research focuses on immunometabolism, infectious diseases, and adipose tissue dynamics, particularly the role of IL-17 signaling in immune responses. He leads the active project Fat on the frontline: Immune control of energy reserves during infection (2024–2029).
Notable achievements include the Wellcome Early Career Award (2024), Lydia Becker Prize (2023), and Making a Difference Award for Social Responsibility (2024). He frequently presents at conferences and organizes events like the STEM Village Immunology Symposium (2024). His work bridges immunology and metabolism, with contributions to understanding adipose tissue's role in infection defense and chronic diseases like diabetes.
