Matthew Lippert is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Physics at the State University of New York at Old Westbury. He holds a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Yale University (1997) and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2004). His postdoctoral research included positions at the University of Amsterdam, University of Crete, Technion, and University of Kentucky.
His research focuses on high-energy theoretical physics, particularly string theory and applications of gauge/gravity duality to condensed matter and nuclear physics. He also investigates relativistic astrophysical phenomena such as black holes, neutron stars, and high-energy cosmic processes. Lippert teaches courses including Structure of Physics, General Physics 3, and Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences.
