Rodolfo Russo is a Professor in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Queen Mary University of London, and Lead for Communication and Public Engagement. He holds a PhD from Politecnico di Torino and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Neuchâtel, École Normale Supérieure (Paris), and CERN. His research focuses on String Theory, Quantum Field Theory, and their interplay, particularly the AdS/CFT duality in heavy states and the eikonal limit of gravitational scattering, with applications to black hole dynamics. He has supervised numerous PhD students and co-authored over 100 publications. Russo is also involved in research grants totaling £2.7M, including projects on amplitudes, strings, and duality, and the role of heavy states in black hole physics. His teaching includes the Relativistic Waves & Quantum Fields module and leadership of the Euromaster programme.
Research interests span perturbative string theory, black hole microstate geometries, effective actions from string amplitudes, and gauge/gravity duality beyond supergravity. His work addresses foundational questions in quantum gravity, gravitational wave physics, and high-energy scattering processes.
Russo's recent articles explore gravitational waveforms, eikonal methods, and holographic correlators, advancing understanding of black hole dynamics and gravitational interactions at extreme energies. He collaborates widely, leading initiatives in theoretical physics communication and education.
