Matthew Jesse Jackson

Matthew Jesse Jackson is a Professor and Chair of Visual Arts and Professor of Art History at the University of Chicago. His work focuses on post-1945 cultural experience, with a specialization in Soviet avant-garde art and Moscow conceptualism. He is renowned for his scholarship on Ilya Kabakov and Russian artists.

• Education: Ph.D. in History of Art (University of California, Berkeley), ABD in Russian Literature (Columbia University), B.A. in French and German (Florida State University).

His research explores Soviet unofficial art, blending critical theory with historical analysis. Notable publications include monographs on the Kabakovs and translations of Kabakov's writings.
