Christina Kiaer

Christina Kiaer is a Lecturer at Northwestern University, specializing in twentieth-century Russian and Soviet art, the politics of realism and the avant-garde, and feminist theory and art. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Her research focuses on Soviet art, Constructivism, and Socialist Realism, with a particular interest in feminist theory and curatorial practices. She has published extensively on topics such as Soviet-American cultural exchange, Soviet sports representation, and the works of Aleksandr Deineka.

Notable publications include her book Imagine No Possessions: The Socialist Objects of Russian Constructivism (2005) and co-edited Everyday Life in Early Soviet Russia: Taking the Revolution Inside (2005). Her curatorial work includes the 2009 Tate Modern and 2011 Juan March exhibitions.
