Matthew C. Kruger is an Associate Professor of the Practice and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Theology Department at Boston College, part of Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. His academic journey includes an A.B. from Tufts University, an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from Boston College.

His research explores intersections between spirituality and 20th-century philosophy, focusing on nihilism, existential themes, and thinkers like Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Jean-Luc Marion. He also engages with the Kyoto School's philosophical contributions.
Recent publications include works on nihilism's theological implications, philosophical novels examining suicide, and practical guides for postmodern Christian spirituality. His book Love and Nihilism (in progress) continues this dialogue with contemporary philosophers.
