Dr. Matthew A. Wyszynski is a Professor of Modern Languages and Senior Associate Dean at The University of Akron. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (1996) and a B.A. from The University of Akron (1990). His research focuses on Spanish Golden Age literature, particularly Cervantes, rhetoric, and literary translation. He has been recognized with awards including the 2009 Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Award and the Ohio Magazine Excellence in Education Award.
Dr. Wyszynski's scholarly work examines themes such as rhetoric in Cervantes' plays, friendship dynamics in Renaissance drama, and game theory in Don Quixote. His publications include analyses of La Numancia, Tirso de Molina's plays, and Torres Naharro's Himenea. He has also edited works like Lope de Vega's Fuenteovejuna and contributed to academic journals like Hispanic Journal and Neophilologus.
As Senior Associate Dean, he oversees the Williams Honors College and teaches courses in Spanish language and Humanities. His academic leadership and dedication to teaching and scholarship reflect his dual role in administration and research.
