Deborah Compte is a Professor of Spanish at the Department of World Languages and Cultures within The College of New Jersey's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She teaches courses such as Intermediate and Advanced Oral Proficiency (SPA 203, SPA 302), Senior Seminar: Don Quixote (SPA 497), and Graduate Topics: Don Quixote (SPA 598).

She explores themes such as gender representation in Golden Age texts, pastoral literature traditions, and the portrayal of marginalized identities ("the Other") during this period. Her work bridges literary analysis with historical and sociocultural contexts.
