Matt Finch serves as an Associate Fellow at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he contributes to executive education and research initiatives. His academic work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in strategic foresight and policy development.
His research interests focus on strategic management and foresight methodologies, with particular expertise in scenario planning for complex societal challenges. Finch employs interdisciplinary approaches that integrate historical analysis with forward-looking strategic tools to address issues ranging from urban development to internet governance.
His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on strategic foresight applications, particularly examining regional development and governance structures through scenario-based analysis. This work shows increasing emphasis on complex systems thinking and cross-border policy challenges.
Finch maintains active professional development through specialized training programs including psychodynamic group facilitation with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and the CFAR Dynamics of Consulting programme.
He serves as a programme director for custom engagements and the Collaborative Strategy Lab programme at Oxford Saïd, teaching across multiple degree programs including the MBA, Executive MBA, and MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership. Finch also leads the Oxford Scenarios Programme and co-designed the Oxford Scenarios Facilitation Programme.
His external engagements include membership on the Futures Council at Australia's National Security College, affiliation with the New School for Social Research, and advisory roles including with the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group for Future Generations where he contributed to Ukraine 2040 scenarios. From 2021-2024, he served on the Strategic Foresight Expert Working Group for the European cybersecurity agency ENISA.
