Jon Stokes is an Associate Scholar at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, with expertise in leadership psychology and executive coaching. He previously served as a Senior Fellow in Management Practice, Visiting Professor at Strathclyde Graduate Business School, and Associate Fellow of the Institute for Government. Stokes holds an MA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University and has over 20 years of experience in the NHS, including roles as head of the Adult Psychotherapy Department at the Tavistock Clinic and Founding Director of Tavistock Consulting. He currently leads Stokes & Jolly, a leadership advisory firm.
His research focuses on leadership psychology, executive coaching, and organizational dynamics, with notable works exploring leadership capabilities for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, team psychodynamics, and stress management in institutions. Stokes teaches on programs such as the Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme, Executive MBA, and Women’s Leadership Development Programme, emphasizing practical leadership development.
Stokes’ recent publications include studies on leadership in radical uncertainty and the transition from career-centric to life-focused approaches. His work bridges psychological theory with organizational practice, addressing challenges like institutional chaos and ethical governance.
