Dr. Maryline Kiptoo is a Lecturer in Enterprise at the Department of Strategy, Enterprise and Sustainability, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). She leads the BA (Hons) Business Entrepreneurship programme and previously taught at the University of Strathclyde Business School. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship in the Global South, particularly informal artisan entrepreneurs, resilience, and postcolonial theory. She holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde, alongside an MSc in International Management and BSc in Financial Engineering. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and affiliated with professional bodies like the Academy of Management (AOM) and CAREED.
Her work explores resilience among informal entrepreneurs, angel investment practices, and socio-cultural dimensions of entrepreneurship. She has published in top journals and contributed to conferences globally. Current projects include a STAR Fund Grant on angel investors in Kenya and the Business Diagnostic Toolkits initiative. She advises doctoral students in related fields and teaches courses like Innovation and Creativity Skills for Business.
Her research outputs reflect a commitment to understanding entrepreneurship's role in sustainable development and socio-economic challenges. She actively engages with industry through speaking platforms like the Africa Business Chamber and Audacious Business.
