Mary Hallan FioRito serves as the Cardinal Francis George Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) and concurrently as a Fellow at the deNicola Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame. An attorney with expertise in human life issues, her scholarly focus centers on abortion law and policy, post-abortion aftermath, and the Consistent Ethic of Life framework. She earned her English Literature degree and Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago and maintains an active law license in Illinois.
Her professional trajectory includes significant roles within Catholic institutional structures, serving as Director of Pro-life Activities for the Archdiocese of Chicago (1993-2000), becoming the Archdiocese's first female Vice-Chancellor in 2000, and serving as Executive Assistant to Cardinal Francis George until 2015. Her work bridges academic scholarship with practical policy engagement, regularly contributing to major publications including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Newsweek, and National Review.
Ms. FioRito's research examines the intersection of law, ethics, and social policy regarding life issues, with particular attention to media representation and legal frameworks.
