Mary Rice Hasson

Mary Rice Hasson, J.D., serves as the Kate O'Beirne Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., and as a Visiting Fellow for the Veritas Center at Franciscan University of Steubenville. She co-founded and directs the Person and Identity Project, an initiative focused on promoting the truth about the human person and countering gender ideology. Hasson also serves as a consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth and the Committee on Religious Liberty.

Her research interests center on gender ideology, religious liberty, Catholic education, and bioethics. Hasson frequently speaks at national conferences, universities, and dioceses across the country, providing expert advice to legislators, policymakers, and NGOs on issues related to gender ideology. She has been a three-time keynote speaker for the Holy See during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and has testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on the Equality Act.

Hasson's publications reveal a consistent focus on gender ideology, religious liberty, and Catholic education. Her recent work (2021-2025) demonstrates increasing engagement with legal and policy challenges related to gender ideology, including amicus briefs, regulatory comments, and analysis of Supreme Court cases. Among her notable achievements are her leadership in the Person and Identity Project, her co-authorship of books including Get Out Now: Why You Should Pull Your Child From Public School Before It's Too Late, and her extensive media presence in national publications and interviews. She has provided expert testimony and consultation on matters affecting religious liberty and gender ideology.

Hasson graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Law School. She is married to Seamus Hasson and is the mother of seven grown children and grandmother of seven.
