Dr. Patrick Lee is a Professor of Philosophy and holds the John N. and Jamie D. McAleer Chair in Bioethics at Franciscan University of Steubenville. He directs the Center for Bioethics, advocating the Catholic Church's stance on human life issues through writings, debates, and public speaking.
Education: B.A. from University of Dallas, M.A. from Niagara University, Ph.D. from Marquette University. Previously taught at University of St. Thomas (1981-1992).
Research Interests: Bioethics, moral philosophy, natural law theory, embryo ethics, and integration of faith with reason. Key topics include abortion ethics, moral status of human embryos, and legal implications of bioethical principles.
Achievements: Delivered the 2005 John Heiser Lecture on embryo-killing and stem cell research. Awarded the Cardinal Wright Award (2005) for Catholic scholarship. Authored/co-authored three influential books including Abortion and Unborn Human Life and Conjugal Union.
Public Engagement: Testified before U.S. Congressional Panel (2016) asserting human life begins at conception. Active in American Catholic Philosophical Association and Society of Christian Philosophers.
