Dr. Mary Cardaras is a writer, EMMY award-winning journalist, and documentary filmmaker currently affiliated with the American College of Greece, where she serves as Director of The Demos Center. She has taught journalism courses at universities including LaSalle University, Syracuse University's London campus, American International University, and Northeastern University since 1991.

- B.A. in Journalism (Valparaiso University)
Her research and advocacy focus on citizenship rights for Greek adoptees, civic engagement, and democracy promotion through journalism. She authored Ripped at the Root: An Adoption Story (2021) and edited The Voices of the Lost Children of Greece: Oral Histories (2023).
