Dr. Mary-Anne Kate is a Lecturer and Teaching Associate in the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University. She specializes in dissociation, interpersonal trauma, and mental health, and serves on the Scientific Committee of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). She developed the Master of Professional Psychology unit PSYC6001 Psychological Assessment and Psychopathology and the undergraduate unit PSYC2002 Understanding Psychological Diagnoses.
Her research focuses on:
- Childhood maltreatment and parent-child dynamics
- Screening tools for dissociative symptoms (e.g., MID-60)
- Policy development for vulnerable populations
She has contributed to Wiley's Abnormal Psychology textbook as lead author of the Dissociative and Somatic Disorders chapter and speaks internationally on dissociation.
