Professor Michael Alan Salter serves as Director of Childlight UNSW (Australasian hub of the Global Child Safety Institute) within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales. His research focuses on child sexual abuse/exploitation, gender-based violence, and complex trauma with significant policy impact across mental health, law enforcement, and internet regulation sectors.
His research expertise spans:
- Child abuse and adult survivor dynamics
- Gender inequality and violence prevention frameworks
- Technologically-facilitated abuse investigation
- Dissociation in trauma contexts
Professor Salter holds leadership positions including Chair of the Grace Tame Foundation and past presidency of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). His advisory roles encompass:
