Nicole A. Kouri is an Adjunct Professor and doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Wayne State University, specializing in statistics and trauma-related research. She is affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute. Her work focuses on dissociation, posttraumatic stress, substance use, and the impact of interpersonal violence on adolescent mental health.

Research interests include the interplay between dissociative symptoms, trauma exposure, and maladaptive coping strategies in adolescents. Her studies often employ neuroimaging and behavioral methodologies, with a focus on therapeutic interventions like surf therapy and mindfulness. Nicole has conducted research at NYU Medical Center, the Center for Optimal Living, and the International Society for Trauma and Dissociation.
Key awards include the Ben & Brenda Rosen Award (2023), the Merrill Palmer Fellowship (2021–Present), and the ISSD Caul Research Grant (2018). Her work has been published in journals such as Psychological Trauma, Journal of Traumatic Stress, and Journal of Child & Adolescent Trauma.
Teaching and clinical experience includes adjunct roles in Abnormal Psychology and practicum supervision in substance use disorder therapy. She also consults for Wayne State’s Research Design and Analysis Unit, offering expertise in statistical methods.
