Marvin R. Goldfried, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor of Clinical Psychology at Stony Brook University's Department of Psychology. He earned his Ph.D. from SUNY Buffalo in 1961. His research focuses on psychotherapy integration, LGBTQ+ mental health advocacy, and improving clinical practice through evidence-based approaches. Goldfried co-founded the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration and served as its founding editor for In Session: Psychotherapy in Practice. He has received numerous awards, including the APA's Distinguished Contributions to Knowledge Award (2001) and the Lifetime Achievement Award (2018).

His grants include an NIMH-funded program on exposure-based anxiety disorder treatments (2008-2013) and an Arcus Foundation grant for LGBTQ+ professional education. Goldfried has been a pivotal figure in shaping modern psychotherapy through his advocacy for consensus-building among therapeutic modalities.
