Dr. Martine Broekhuizen is a Researcher at the Educational Development & Training department, Utrecht University. Her work focuses on early childhood education, educational equity, and cultural diversity in schooling. She contributes to the Dynamics of Youth (DoY) research program and leads initiatives like the Utrecht Virtual Learning Environment Project for multicultural preschool partnerships.
Research Interests span inclusive education, multilingualism, and social-emotional development in diverse settings. Her peer-reviewed articles analyze acculturation strategies, bilingualism in preschool, and prosocial behavior across cultures. She supervises projects on parental involvement in Norwegian ECEC and Team Learning in European education systems.
Scientific Awards include the 2014 International Short Stay Ph.D. Fellowship. She has co-supervised five PhD candidates and teaches the bachelor’s course Inclusive Education and Care while mentoring master’s theses in the Youth, Education and Society program.
