Martina Roes is a Professor of Nursing Science and Health Care Research at the University of Witten/Herdecke, affiliated with the Faculty of Health and Department of Nursing Science. She serves as spokesperson for the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE)/Witten and leads two working groups: 'Implementation Science' and 'Person-Centered Dementia Care'.
- Ph.D. in Nursing Science, University of Bremen (1997–2002)
- State Exams in Nursing, Marienhospital (1979–1982)
- Sociology major with Philosophy and Psychology minors, Free University of Berlin (1990/91–1996/97)
Her research focuses on methodological innovations in nursing and health services research, particularly:
- Process evaluation in healthcare settings
- Development of implementation/dissemination models
- Social research with people with dementia
- Design of dementia-friendly built environments
- Disaster preparedness for dementia care systems
Key projects include:
- B-Dem (dementia counseling structures)
- BENi (mobility promotion in care facilities)
- COVIDX3 (pandemic resilience for dementia care)
- DemFriendlyHospital (dementia-friendly hospital criteria)
- INCLUDE & PLAN:D (urban spatial orientation for dementia)
- PELI-D (preference assessment tool for elderly care)
- PerDem (personhood in dementia care)
- TRANSFER-DEM (implementation factors in dementia care)
She has held leadership roles including:
- Head of Institute for Quality and Case Management (IQC) since 2004
- Vice-Rector for Education at University of Applied Sciences Bremen (2006–2008)
- Dean of Study Affairs at University of Applied Sciences Bremen (2004–2006)
