Claudia Dinand

Claudia Dinand is a Scientific Associate at the Chair of Nursing Science within the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Health, University of Witten/Herdecke. Her work focuses on care interventions for individuals with dementia, qualitative research methodologies, and digital education systems in healthcare.

Research Interests center on qualitative studies in dementia care, particularly behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (FTD), family decision-making in palliative geriatric care (e.g., artificial nutrition), and implementation of digital learning platforms like Moodle in healthcare education. Her methodological expertise includes narrative interviews, videography, and digital data analysis.

Professional Affiliations include the German Society for Nursing Science (DGP), German Nursing Association (DBfK), and the German Network for Health Services Research (DNVF). She co-founded the International Research Network "Interaction under the Microscope" (IUM) and the MethodenForum at DZNE Witten.

Key Projects include the PEG Project (2008-2011) funded by AOK-Bund, DESCRIBE-TODAY (2017-2019), BeSt-for-FTD (2016-2019), AMEO-FTD (2015-2018), and AspectFTD (2011-2015). She also contributed to the development of the MINDED.RUHR digital learning system (2021) and the UW/H HeiCO study (2020-2022) on pandemic impacts in elderly care.

Teaching spans master's programs in nursing science and community health nursing, focusing on qualitative research with dementia patients and theory-building in nursing.

Work Experience includes 14 years at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Witten (2008-2019), followed by ongoing roles at the Chair of Nursing Science since 2020. She has also worked as a freelance lecturer and clinical nurse in surgical departments.
