Martina Roes

Prof. Dr. Martina Roes is a Group Leader and Site Speaker at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Witten, Germany. Her work focuses on implementation and dissemination research in dementia care, addressing the translation of evidence-based interventions into sustainable healthcare practices.

• Key projects: DISTINCT (technology and dementia), EvalDem-RLP (Rhineland-Palatinate dementia strategy), PreBeDem (participatory care research), DEMfriendlyHospital (dementia-friendly hospitals), INCLUDE (spatial orientation in cities), and RAUM!Erleben (lifeworld of dementia patients).
• Affiliations: Collaborates with Universität Witten/Herdecke and international institutions (Chile, New Zealand, Denmark, Netherlands).

Her research explores how to design effective strategies for integrating innovations into healthcare systems, emphasizing the perspectives of people with dementia, caregivers, and interdisciplinary stakeholders. She investigates barriers to implementation, co-creates frameworks for dementia-friendly environments, and evaluates participatory research models.

The ImDi working group under her leadership develops theoretical models to improve implementation success, focusing on quality of care, evidence-informed practices, and cross-sector collaboration. Projects like PELI-D II/III examine preferences for leisure activities and care settings among vulnerable populations, including migrants with dementia.

• Led trilateral workshops in Chile (2022) and New Zealand (2023) to connect dementia care, disaster management, and public health research.
