Martin Mende is the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Professor in Services Leadership and Professor of Marketing at Arizona State University's Business College. He holds affiliations as a Senior Global Futures Scholar and part of the Global Futures Scientists and Scholars initiative. His research focuses on service innovation, consumer behavior, and transformative service strategies, with notable contributions in journals like the Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of Consumer Research. Mende serves as an associate editor for multiple top-tier journals, including Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Education: PhD from Arizona State University. Teaching includes courses on services marketing and strategy.
Research interests emphasize service blueprinting, service growth strategies, and the ethical integration of technology in services. His work explores topics such as human-robot collaboration, consumer vulnerability, and sustainable consumption. Notable awards include the Weitz-Winer-O’Dell Award and recognition as an Emerging Scholar in multiple marketing communities.
Over 150+ publications span transformative service research, AI in retail, and ethical marketing.
