معرفی
Martin Ackermann is a Full Professor at the Department of Environmental Systems Science, ETH Zurich, and leads the Ecology of Microbial Systems group at Eawag (Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology). His research focuses on fundamental questions in bacterial ecology and evolution.
- Education: Biology degree from the University of Basel (PhD, 2002).
Research Interests:
• Understanding interactions within and between bacterial species
• Investigating how bacteria adapt to fluctuating environmental conditions
• Linking individual cell properties to microbial community functions through experimental and computational approaches
Scientific Awards:
- SNSF Professor Fellowship (2006)
Laboratory & Collaborations:
His group combines single-cell studies with population-level experiments to uncover principles of microbial community dynamics, with applications in environmental and medical microbiology. Affiliated with Eawag and ETH Zurich's Institute of Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics.
