Prof. Martijn Groenleer is a Professor of Public Governance at Tilburg University’s Department of Public Law and Governance. He also serves as Academic Director of the Tilburg Center for Regional Law and Governance (TiREG) and Academic Lead of the Academic Collaborative Center for Climate and Energy. He is affiliated with Harvard University’s Bloomberg Center for Cities. His research focuses on public regulation, multi-level governance, urban/energy transition, and organized crime, published in journals like Public Administration Review and Regulation and Governance.
Education:
- Doctorate (cum laude) in Public Administration, Leiden University
- Previous roles: Assistant/Associate Professor at Delft University of Technology (2007–2015)
Research Interests:
- Design and evaluation of collaborative governance frameworks for complex challenges (e.g., climate change, organized crime)
- Energy transition policies, citizen participation, and equitable governance
- Urban constitutionalism and legal frameworks for sustainable cities
