Martha Councell-Vargas is a Professor of Flute at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, Western Michigan University. She specializes in Latin American and Caribbean music, with notable research on Cuban flute traditions and the works of Paquito D’Rivera. Her career spans solo and chamber performances across 5 continents, including engagements in Europe, Asia, and South America.
