Mark Sinclair is a Professor and Reader in Philosophy at Queen's University Belfast's School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics. Previously, he held roles as Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and Reader at the University of Roehampton. He is a Fellow of the Collegium de Lyon (2019-20) and served as Visiting Professor at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse (2022-23). His research focuses on post-Kantian European philosophy, combining metaphysics and philosophy of mind with historical studies of French and German thinkers like Bergson, Heidegger, and Canguilhem. He supervises PhDs in modern French philosophy, aesthetics, and metaphysics.
- Research Interests: Post-Kantian European philosophy, metaphysics of freedom, history of French philosophy (1870–1960), philosophy of habit, and Bergson studies.
- Teaching: Leads modules on Philosophy of Science, Aesthetics, and Philosophies of Habit/Addiction.
His notable works include Being Inclined: Félix Ravaisson's Philosophy of Habit (Oxford UP, 2019) and Bergson (Routledge Philosophers, 2020). He co-edited The Oxford Handbook of Modern French Philosophy (2024) and frequently engages in public outreach, including BBC Radio 4's In Our Time on Bergson.
