معرفی
Mark Juhasz is a Professor in the Chemistry Department at Whitman College, where he has taught since 2009 and received tenure in 2015. His research focuses on synthesizing and characterizing boron clusters (carboranes) for applications in medicine, advanced materials, and catalysis.
Research areas include:
- Development of novel synthetic methods for boron clusters
- Biomedical applications of carboranes
- Materials for optics and electronics
- Industrial catalysis using inorganic compounds
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on structural modification of dodecaborate anions through halogenation, cyanation, and carboxylation, with applications spanning energy storage to pharmaceutical design.
Research supported by Whitman College, NSF, and M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. He mentors undergraduate researchers extensively, with 25+ past advisees pursuing careers in academia and industry. Current research students include Claire Andrus ('24), Daria Alicic ('24), and Dori Buttleman ('25).
