Mark Gasta is a Teaching Professor and Associate Director of the Outdoor Recreation Economy (ORE) program at the University of Colorado Boulder. He leads the Introduction to the Outdoor Recreation Economy and Leading a Sustainable Business certificates. Previously, he held roles at Colorado State University's MTM Program and served in executive leadership at Vail Resorts and Comcast.
Education: BS in Environmental and Systematic Biology (Cal Poly), MBA (University of Denver), Ed.D. in Organizational Change (Pepperdine).
Research Focus: Sustainable economic development through outdoor recreation, leadership development in organizations, and leveraging tourism for environmental preservation. Specializes in connecting leadership potential with social/environmental impact.
Professional Engagement: Active in Adventure Travel Trade Association, Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals. Serves on non-profit boards including Colorado Outward Bound School and Urban League.
