Geneviève Marchand is an Associate Professor at Cal Poly Humboldt's School of Applied Health. She coordinates the Outdoor Recreation emphasis and Outdoor Assistantship programs. Her work focuses on accessibility in outdoor spaces, Leave No Trace principles, and leadership development. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Minnesota, a Master's in Kinesiology from California State University, Chico, and a Bachelor's in Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Tourism from Université du Québec à Chicoutimi.
Research interests include environmental attitude, place attachment, and job demand stressors in wilderness therapy. She is a certified Leave No Trace Master Educator, Wilderness First Responder, and Wilderness Education Association-certified Outdoor Educator.
Professional roles include board membership with the Association for Outdoor Recreation and Education (2016–2019), Research Committee chair (2013–2015), and advisor for Latino Outdoors and the Recreation Administration Club.
Teaching specialties include Adventure Programming, Wilderness Living Skills, and Expedition Planning. Her work emphasizes inclusivity in outdoor programs and well-being through outdoor experiences.
