Mark Dorn is a Professor of Music and Coordinator of Instrumental Music at Colorado Christian University, affiliated with the School of Music in the College of Undergraduate Studies. He conducts the Symphonic Band, directs the Mainstream jazz ensemble, and performs regularly as a trumpet artist. He also teaches private lessons, supervises senior thesis projects, and oversees the 'Musical Perspectives' general education course.

Mark Dorn's work integrates music performance and education with spiritual mentorship. His research and professional interests include music education, trumpet performance, jazz and symphonic band direction, and the integration of faith and leadership in the arts. He is deeply committed to student mentoring and leadership development, bringing spiritual formation into his pedagogical and artistic practice.
Dorn has received multiple honors, including Faculty Member of the Year (2003) and Faculty Teaching Excellence Award (2010). He is a member of several prestigious organizations such as the National Association for Music Education, International Trumpet Guild, Jazz Education Network, College Band Directors National Association, and Colorado Bandmasters Association. His 2020 initiation into Phi Beta Mu highlights his national recognition in band leadership.
He has mentored numerous students through senior projects and personal guidance, and has led CCU ensembles on over 30 years of touring across 15 states. He also produced the 'KIDS from Wisconsin' show troupe from 1996 to 2016. Dorn combines his artistic career with a small counseling practice and spiritual writing, having recently published a book on the spiritual journey. He is an active freelance performer and clinician in both jazz and symphonic band settings.
Mark Dorn is involved in leadership and performance teams, including the Symphonic Band and Mainstream jazz ensemble at CCU. He has also led national honor bands and jazz ensembles as a guest conductor, contributing to broader music education communities.
