Professor Mark Banks is a leading academic in Cultural Economy, currently at the University of Glasgow's Theatre, Film & Television Studies department. Previously, he held roles at the University of Leicester (as founding Director of CAMEo Research Institute) and The Open University. His research focuses on cultural industries, social justice, and ecological politics, advocating for 'creative justice' in creative economies.
Education & Career: Mark Banks began his academic career at Manchester Metropolitan University in the 1990s. He has authored influential books like Creative Justice (2017) and The Politics of Cultural Work (2007). He has been awarded Fellowships from the Academy of Social Sciences and the Higher Education Academy.
Research Interests: Banks explores the intersection of culture and economy, emphasizing labor conditions, social equity, and environmental sustainability.
